The lawyers of Escobedo, Tippit & Cardenas have made their reputation prosecuting and trying complex product liability cases.
Our lawyers’ battles with the water heater industry have resulted in numerous multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements. We have committed hundreds of thousands of dollars to conducting tests and prosecuting and trying these lawsuits. Recently, the water heater manufacturers adopted the safer, alternative design solution proposed by our experts in this type of litigation.
Our lawyers were also instrumental in forcing the gasoline container industry to incorporate child-resistant closures into the design of its containers. John Tippit is the co-chair of the ATLA Gas Can Litigation Group, a group designed to educate other lawyers on the relevant issues in this type of litigation.
Recently, in Margarita Camacho, et.al. v. Whirlpool Corporation, Joe Escobedo and Luis Cardenas obtained a $14,000,000.00 verdict against Whirlpool. Fifteen-year old Joab Camacho died in a house fire caused by the defective design of a Whirlpool clothes dryer. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, clothes dryers are responsible for over 15,000 fires, 10 deaths, over 300 injuries and more than $80 million in property damage each year.
